DIY Vacation Mini Planner

This is not a sponsored post. I just really, really love my Happy Planner and want to share the love and ideas!

My husband and I are going on a trip later this year, and we are so excited. We are going to Connecticut first to visit two of our best friends(Scott and Katie) and meet their new baby (Millie). They moved to Connecticut a year and a half ago when Scott joined the Coast Guard, so we are excited to finally get up there to visit them! After a few days of visiting in Connecticut, we are taking a train to New York City- and I am so excited. I’ve been to New York City once before, but it was 11 years ago. Matthew has never been! We are so excited about this quick little trip.

We are only going to be in New York City for  a little more than 48 hours, and there are so many things we want to squeeze into that time. As I began planning, I realized that there were so many different papers piling up- flight reservations, hotel reservations, tickets to all of the different things we are doing, our itinerary– so I decided I need somewhere to store all of these items while we are traveling! Viola- the Vacation Mini Planner was invented!!

Cover

First things first, I printed off all of the paper work we needed. Then I gathered the following supplies: mini discs, MAMBI plastic dashboards, a page from the MAMBI expandable paper pads, a few pages of MAMBI graph paper, and my MAMBI paper punch.

I cut the tabs off the clear and blue plastic dashboards. They make great covers! I then cut the paper from the expandable paper pads to put behind the plastic dashboards. It’s a great, easy cover for this mini planner. I decorated the cover with MAMBI stickers to show what the planner would be used for.

Since I bought two new planners to start using in July, I had extra pages from my old planner. I pulled out the page that had the dates of our trip and folded it in half so that it would fit into this mini planner. I then wrote out and decorated what all I had planned so far. Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday are currently blank because I’m not sure what all Scott and Katie have planned for us to do in Connecticut. This is the first page in the mini planner, and I loved how it turned out!

I then took a few pages of the MAMBI graph paper and cut it down to fit inside the planner. I embellished these pages with washi tape to make them cute. I left these pages blank for now, but I plan to decorate them with pictures from the trip as the trip is going on as well as journal about each day. I plan on buying an Instax camera before we go on this trip, and it will be perfect to decorate the pages with these pictures as we go. I can’t wait to fill these pages out as the trip goes on.IMG_5903

Next up, I took the pages that I printed for our trip. These papers include our flight information, train tickets, hotel reservations, daily itineraries (that include how long it should take us to get from each location to the next), restaurant reservations, and tickets to different locations and events. I folded the papers in half and punched them on the side. I then popped them into the planner. I imagine this is going to work so well for me- when I need the papers, I can pop them right out. When I am finished, I can pop the paper back in for safe keeping. I think this is going to work so well for me!

At the back of the mini planner, I popped in some pages from my DIY sticker book. These MAMBI sticker pages are full of travel themed stickers, and I wanted to have them close by so that I can decorate the graph pages as we go.

This mini planner is going to be so perfect for this trip. It’s the perfect size to throw into my purse for the trip and it’s going to help me stay so organized on this trip. I love, love, love how easy it is to take MAMBI products and create what works for you and what helps you to stay organized!

How have you used the MAMBI punch to create new items that work for you? I’d love to hear your ideas! Leave a comment below or go tell me your ideas on my IG- @kellofaplan !

  1. Love your travel planner. You should research the polaroid zip printer before investing in the Instax camera. I have both, the zip printer has self adhesive back on your picture and is not as bulky as the Instax pictures. 🙂 Have a great trip! I have been to NY once, so much to see and do. Enjoy.
